Oman, or Bust!

The Cmmdr has a plan. He is determined to be one of a handful of American actors living and working in Oman. The world's easternmost Arabian country, it is a mostly desert nation, with a population of 2,567,000. Though Oman is a modern country, western influences are quite restricted and one might think an American television actor, especially one with so low a profile as the Cmmdr, would find it difficult to procure employment. To make matters worse, the shabby, squat-headed little shit has decided to settle in Salalah, a small city in southern Oman. The smart move would be to find digs in Muscat, the capitol. But we must assume the Cmmdr has his reasons. It will be a tough road for the dingy, pig-faced little goat of a man. There is very little culture that is not dictated by the religious police. Theatre is non-existent, fewer than 3% of the population own televisions, and cinema is prohibited. As he tried recently in Greenland, and in Yemen a few years back, he’ll most likely look for print work. Also, if he can learn Arabic – more specifically, the Baloochi dialect, and Bathari, a non-Arabic Semitic language, he could have a shot at some radio work. Though this is a stretch considering he could never get any radio work in LA or NY, where he spoke fluent American. You have to hand it to this determined little Gremlin! God speed, indeed.
